On most water heaters the first 4 numbers of the serial number are the month and year it was manufactured. Bathrooms Check around the base of your toilet for signs of water damage. Rolled up vinyl or stains are a sign of a potential problem. Kitchens Check under your kitchen sink for signs of water damage. Use a flashlight and examine the bottom of the cabinet for signs of warping or leaks. Check the pipes from your sink and and the couplings from your dishwasher for any signs of water.
